Celebration of life

We will celebrate Mom’s life on Saturday, April 2, the day after her birthday. Spring flowers will be blooming, and more distant friends who want to join us will have more time to plan.

We plan to gather at 2 pm at the church where our family spent so much time – First Baptist Church at 201 Anderson Street in Fayetteville, NC. The church website is fbcfay.com, and the phone number is (910) 475-7697. Here are a few details about the gathering.

Please bring/wear a mask – both in honor of Mom, whose health took a long-term hit from her COVID experience, and to protect others at the service who are more vulnerable because of age or medical conditions. While mask mandates have been dropped in many places, COVID is still around and people we know have been diagnosed recently. Thank you!

• We will have a guestbook in the church vestibule, and we hope you’ll sign it on your way in.

• The family will be at the church before the service – starting at 1:00 pm – if you’d like to say hello. They will be in Memorial Lounge, which is located behind the sanctuary.

• There are two parking lots available, and parking is free on weekends. The main, paved lot is behind the church, and there is also an overflow grassy lot that will be open that weekend.

• Mom recently mentioned that she was not a fan of the idea that people should be expected to wear black to funerals, and we feel sure she would be happy if you wore something colorful or just a color you like. If black is your go-to fashion choice, that’s fine, of course – just don’t feel you have to wear it for Mom’s sake!

We’d also like for this to feel more like a Saturday afternoon gathering and less like a formal service, so don’t feel the need to wear a suit, tie, or dressy church outfit unless that’s what you’d prefer.
